After enjoying a delicious lunch, make your way to the old city of Jaipur for some sightseeing. We’ll stop at Jal Mahal (Water Palace) and Hawa Mahal for photography opportunities. Get ready to capture these stunning architectural wonders!
Jal Mahal, an 18th-century palace located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, was renovated and enlarged by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber. This majestic structure is surrounded by a tranquil lake that adds to its beauty and grandeur.
The Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and designed by Lal Chand Ustad. This high screen wall was built so the women of the royal household could observe street festivals from behind its walls without being seen. Its unique design resembles a crown associated with Krishna, a Hindu God.
Next you will explore the City Palace complex, constructed between 1729 and 1732 by Sawai Jai Singh II – the ruler of Amber – is a remarkable example of architectural excellence. Built with an initial plan to construct outer walls, later additions were made over time by successive rulers up until the 20th century.
Jantar Mantar (Observatory) is an incredible collection of 19 architectural astronomical instruments that were built by the Rajput King Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734 CE. This remarkable site has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and stands as a testament to the advanced scientific knowledge of its time.
